the 比較級, the 比較級 The more you read, the smarter you become. 前半が原因・後半が結果の因果関係を表す構文。 読めば読むほど賢くなる。
比較級＋than expected/usual The test was harder than usual. 「思っていたより」「いつもより」などと比べる表現。 テストはいつもより難しかった。
No other ～ than He is no better than a thief. no＋比較級＋than～で、「～と同じくらい（比較級の意味とは逆）」という否定的表現。 彼は泥棒と同じくらい悪い。
比較級 than any other ～ She is taller than any other girl in her class. 「他のどの〜よりも〜だ」という最上級に近い意味。 彼女はクラスの他のどの女の子よりも背が高い。
as ～ as any ～ He is as brave as any soldier. 「どんな～にも劣らないほど〜だ」という最上級相当表現。 彼はどの兵士にも劣らないほど勇敢だ。
No more A than B A whale is no more a fish than a horse is. AはBと同様に〜でない（どちらも〜でない）という意味。見かけに反することを強調。 クジラは馬が魚でないのと同様に魚ではない。
no more than He has no more than three dollars. たった〜しか〜ないという意味で、数量の少なさを強調。 彼はたった3ドルしか持っていない。
no less than She has no less than ten cats. 〜も（たくさん）あるという意味で、数量の多さを強調。 彼女は10匹もの猫を飼っている。

🔍成り立ちから理解する！No more A than B / No more than / No less than の違い

① No more A than B（AもBも〜でない）

構造： A is no more C than B is C.
「AはCでないし、BもCでない」→ AもBも同じようにCではないという意味です。

例： A whale is no more a fish than a horse is.
→ クジラは魚でないのは、馬が魚でないのと同じ。

ポイント：「more C」という比較級を「no」が打ち消す構造で、両方否定的な意味になります。

② No more than（～しかない）

構造： no more than + 数詞 / 名詞
「～より多くはない」→ たった〜しかないという意味になります。

例： I have no more than 100 yen.
→ 100円しか持っていない。

ポイント：「only」と同じ意味。「思ったより少ない」ニュアンスで使われます。

③ No less than（～もある）

構造： no less than + 数詞 / 名詞
「～未満ではない」→ 〜もある！（多い！）という強調表現です。

例： She has no less than 10 cats!
→ 彼女はなんと10匹も猫を飼っている！

ポイント：「as many as」と同じ意味。予想を超える多さに驚くときに使います。
